Description

• “SP HCU-C” a protein substitute containing essential & nonessential amino acids
• Free from methionine
• Provides carbohydrate, fat, vitamins, minerals and trace elements
• Choline – a nutrient similar to B vitamins plays a crucial role in brain health for individuals

Suitable for above 2 years of age

Indications

• For the use of dietary management of proven cases of Homocystinuria for above 2 years of age
• Can be used in other conditions where restriction of amino acids methionine is indicated.
• For enteral use only
• Not for parenteral use
• Not Suitable for Infants
• Nonsterile formula
• “Nutritionally Incomplete with a standard formulation or nutrient adopted formulation specific for a disease, disorder or medical condition, which is not suitable to be used as sole source of nourishment”.

Dosage 

• To be determined by the Clinician/Dietician.
• Dose is dependent on age, body weight, complications of the disorder if any and medical condition of the patient
•  ‘Not to exceed the recommended daily usage’.

Direction for Preparation

• The child’s health depends on carefully following the instructions. Proper hygiene, preparation, dilution, use and storage are important when preparing the formula. Failure to follow these instructions could result in severe harm.
• SP HCU-C Formula should be mixed with calculated amounts of drinks like water, fruit juices; fruits purees, etc. or as suggested by the Clinician/Dietician. If using water to prepare the formula you need to use boiled cooled, water.
• Use boiled clean utensils, bottles and nipples in water before use. Pour the required amount of water into the bottle/utensil.
• Add the correct amount of SP formula powder, cap the bottle or cover the utensil and shake vigorously for some time.
• IF YOU FIND FORMULA IS NOT DISSOLVING PROPERLY THEN TAKE A MEASURED FORMULA IN BOTTLE OR UTENSIL ADD LITTLE LIQUID TO MAKE A PASTE. IF CHILD CAN TAKE THAT MUCH THICK FORMULA, THEN FEED IT AND THEN GIVE REMAINING MEASURED JUICE OR WATER. IF UNABLE TO TAKE PASTE, THEN ADD REMAINING CALCULATED FLUID. SHAKE WELL.
• If instructed to use the scoop unpacked and use a levelled scoop.
• Once prepared, product can spoil quickly. Either feed immediately or after feeding begins, use within 1 hour otherwise discard. Do not freeze prepared product.

Important Notice

• Should not be boiled nor added to hot food & if wish can give only at lukewarm temperature.
